(Maine February 14, 2010) Collaboration Studios, a provider of secure workflow management and tracking systems, is pleased to announce that a statewide collaboration in Maine known as Jumpstart our Youth (JOY) is now using CS systems to provide support for its innovative student philanthropy program.
Created by Unity Foundation, Maine Community Foundation, UniTel, Inc. and Jobs for Maine’s Graduates (JMG), the JOY program is Maine’s most comprehensive youth philanthropy program. In 2009, more than 2,100 Maine students from 52 schools throughout the state spent in excess of 12,000 hours making local community grants and volunteering within their communities. In the first year of operation it is estimated that the students involved in the JOY program provided approximately $150,000 to the state through grants and service learning projects.
Using the organizing capacity of CS-Smartfolder technology, the JOY program uses Collaboration Studio’s CS-Core program to store and distribute grant information from CS’s secure databases to JMG Specialists and JMG/Unity Foundation administrators.
“With the support of Collaboration Studios we now have all of our grant applications, notes and contact information in one place. We do not have to depend upon emailing or mailing time-sensitive documents or delay review because someone is behind. We just open an online set of file drawers and have all we need. CS technology offers a very efficient way to work with individuals across the state.” said Lori Roming, Program Officer at Unity Foundation.
The CS workflow management and tracking module (CS-WTS) manages each stage of the donation process from initial grant application through the delivery of the final check. At any point, administrators can use the systems to know the status of applications across the state and individual JMG Specialists can track their own progress.
Using grant money provided by Unity Foundation and Maine Community Foundation, students in the JOY program fund local organizations serving youth needs. These programs have included fitness and recreation, early childhood development, the arts, and many others. JMG Specialists work directly with students within their schools to help them evaluate donor grant proposals and teach the students how to channel their passion, skills and funds towards solving local community problems.
